Harlow ‘New Town’ was built post war to assist with re-homing London families. Since then it has grown in size and population to around 82,000 (2011 Census). Bordering Hertfordshire it’s located on the south bank of the upper Stort Valley. There is a navigable canal section near its watermill, all in all a beautiful area. Old Harlow is a protected conservation area, originally settled in the early medieval ages. There is a field called Harlowbury with the remains of a chapel as this is a de-settled monastic area.
