Loughton is a town with a population of over 31,000 within the parish of Epping Forest, in Essex. Around a third of Loughton is actually Epping Forest. The history of Loughton as a settlement goes back to 500 BC; an iron-age earth fort was re-discovered in 1872. Loughton as a ‘modern’ settlement is mentioned in a document from Edward the Confessor in 1062, then in the Domesday book as Lochintuna in 1086. Loughton’s growth in medieval times meant clearing Epping Forest as the other direction often flooded. Many became concern at losing such a significant resource. A labourer from Loughton brought a legal case to the City of London Corporation against the land owners resulting in the Epping Forest Act of 1878, thus preserving the forest for years to come
Greenline Environmental are perfectly situated to service Loughton from their headquarters near the M11 in Harlow with easy access to the M25.
